A carafe designed by Colin Terris, for Caithness. His early work provides lovely examples of Scottish Modernism. He studied at the Edinburgh College of Art, originally in graphics but discovered glass in his foundation year.
He went on to study glass making (with engraving) in Scandinavia before joining Caithness in 1968.
I think the landscapes of the Scottish highlands, and Scandinavia, provide a point of influence - creative partnership - in his work.
His designs, like this carafe, are influenced by designers like Bo Borgström and Per Lütken.
The colour - Peat - captures the Scottish landscape.
Part of his Canisbay range of homeware produced in the late 1960s and 1970s
