Caithness 1960s Stroma Jug with Pinched Spout Peat Colourway
A very rare example of the cylindrical jug with a pinched spout in Peat colourway, and designed by Domhnall O'Brien c1962 as part part of his Stroma’ range of tableware which was discontinued by 1972.
The design is heavily influenced by Scandinavian glass making, where O'Brien had worked and trained before joining Caithness. This is one of his first designs for the company.
Produced in the 1960s with the original label in place. At a time when Caithness employed many Scandinavian glassmakers in their studio / factory.
It is a particularly fine piece of glass making, hand made, with perfect balance between handle and spout.
A rare early version of this popular tableware design.
A real piece of Scottish design History.
