Candleholders designed by Jens Harald Quistgaard for Dansk Design in the 1960s. Through a chance encounter between Quistgaard and an American entrepreneur, Dansk Design was formed. Quistgaard, a Danish designer and sculpter, remained the head designer for over three decades. His designs brought the cool of Scandinavian design in homeware to America and Japan in the 1960s through to the 1980s.
This simple candle holder is a beautiful example of his clean and articulate design.
They also make great bud vases.
Why is it modern? It relies on its form, shape, rather than decoration to create its appeal. It is true to its materials using glass to reflect the candlelight. His designs are influenced by the European tradition of the Bauhaus.
Approx 6.5cm tall with a top diameter of approx 7cm.
