Holmegaard Large Viking Amber glass bottle/wine decanter designed by Ole Winther in 1955 for Kastrup Holmegaard in Denmark.
Ole Winther, a Danish ceramist, designed the "Viking" wine carafe for Holmegaard in 1955.
Mid 20th century style and it is the larger of the two sizes made
Mould blown with hand embellished Viking medallion and slightly iridised pouring lip.
It is an intentionally ‘handmade’ looking piece of glass blowing - which embraces the marks of its making. Making them very individual pieces.
The carafes continued in production until the mid 1970's.
It has a wonderful rustic, tactile form, which is firmly set in ceramic design. It’s size, and shape give it an opulent, Dionysian feel to it. Enjoy!
Approx. 24cm high x 19cm wide at base.
