A vintage Okra Studio Glass Blue Black Iridescent Feathered Glass Paperweight by Nicola Osbourne and Richard Golding
A wonderful example of the work produced by Okra, in oys early years. Dated 1982, the studio was created in 1979 by Richard Golding and Nicola Osbourne, who are the founders of Okra glass.
Made and signed by Nicola Osbourne it is an excellent example the surface feathering technique developed in Richard Goulding’s design.
The studio had a tempestuous existence - in both aesthetic and economic terms - but provides some of the most beautiful and technically excellent glass making in Britain from the modernist period.
It’s iridescent surface is typical of the studio. Numbered number 7 in short run production. A lovely early piece from the studio - with original paper label in place.
It is not Scandinavian but the designers were inspired by the reinvigorated studio glassmaking from Scandinavia in the 1960s and 70s. H: 7cm
