A substantial and rare piece: a freestanding open shelving unit in solid pine, designed to function as a room divider rather than a wall-mounted bookcase. Finished identically on all four sides and both faces, with no back panel — both elevations were always meant to be seen.

The construction is serious. At over 90kg in solid pine, this piece was built for permanence. Internal joints are housed and invisible; shelves sit in routed dadoes with no surface fixings. The outer carcass is secured with bolt and penny washer hardware — engineered fixings that speak to the seriousness of the original build.

The internal organisation is asymmetric and purposeful: mixed shelf heights for books and objects, and one dedicated section with vertical dividers spaced to an exact 12-inch module — designed specifically for vinyl record storage. At 30cm deep, the cabinet is precisely the width of an album cover. The single imperial dimension in an otherwise fully metric piece. The records were the reason; everything else was organised around them.

The exterior surfaces carry fifty years of honest patina: amber deepened unevenly in the grain, lighter in the protected interior — oxidisation that cannot be replicated.

Acquired from a north London collector with a long commitment to Scandinavian furniture.

Dimensions: W 135cm × H 180cm × D 30cm
Condition: Good vintage. Surface wear to exterior panels consistent with age. Structurally sound.
