Wonderful rustic modern umbrella stand from France. Produced in the 1960s 70s using the latest technologies to bring together materials in a very pleasing, attractive functional manner. Based on a 1950s design by the popular French designer Jacques Adnet.
The design echoes the art deco movement in its design, ironically mimicking sun rays with its aluminium struts and the pale yellow top ring.
This item has been well used with signs of ware on the base, including a chip along the base but the aluminium struts are not dented or bent and it still makes a beautiful functional statement design in the hallway or office.
