G Plan Fresco Teak Drinks Cabinet / Sideboard
Designed by Victor Wilkins, c.1970
A beautifully preserved drinks cabinet from the Fresco range by G Plan, designed by Victor Wilkins in the late 1960s.
This example is presented in exceptional original condition, retaining its rich honeyed teak tone, crisp sculpted handles and the original red G Plan foil badge to the interior door.
Architectural framed veneer panels create a calm rhythm across the façade, while the recessed pulls sit like carved negatives within the surface. Raised on long tapered legs, the cabinet carries its mass lightly — it floats rather than sits.
The open central bay and divided drawer make it particularly suited as a drinks or entertaining cabinet. Glassware, bottles, cocktail tools — everything has a place without visual clutter.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition throughout.
• Veneer rich and even
• Handles crisp
• Interior clean

A confident example of British modernism — functional, sculptural, disciplined.

Why it works
The design balances structure and softness. Framed panels provide architectural order; grain provides warmth. The negative space of the handles gives relief to the surface. Elevated on long legs, the piece avoids heaviness — British modernism at its most assured.
