A long, low table with a Scandinavian look, equally at home as a coffee table, hall bench or low seat. A slim oak-veneered top sits just proud of a minimal steel frame on slender square legs. Danish-influenced in its pared-back, architectural character, but British in build, made to imperial proportions. Unmarked and unattributed.

Solid and heavy, with the reassuring weight of well-made furniture of the time. It is sturdy enough to work as a bench for several people at once.

The top is oak veneer on teak board. The grain is bold and cathedral-figured, with only minor knocks to the edges and corners. The frame is plated steel, welded, with the top screwed up from below. The underside carries a handwritten stock number, "F 35 860".

Conserved, not simply restored. The top has been gently cleaned and finished with shellac and Danish oil. The metalwork has been buffed without solvents to keep its patina.

Dimensions: 121.5 x 40.5 x 38.5 cm (48 x 16 x 15 in)
