A beautifully honest example of early G-Plan design — still carrying the E. Gomme gold stamp inside the drawer. Built just before G-Plan wholeheartedly embraced the Scandinavian aesthetic, it sits at an intriguing moment: British modernism looking forward to functional utility, yet still echoing the angular geometry of Art Deco — seen clearly in the sculptural shape of the original handles.
Five drawers offer useful storage: the top two are slightly shallower and gently stoop back — an architectural trick that introduces a subtle change in rhythm across the facade. The oak and beech tones have been carefully conserved, never stripped, so the decades of use — a quiet domestic history — remain visible in the surface.

Design Notes
• Original E. Gomme / G-Plan stamp inside the top drawer
• Solid angled wooden handles — a nod to Art Deco geometry
• Fully dovetailed drawer construction
• Clean modernist profile with softened edges
• Conserved finish – gently revived, not over-restored
Condition
In very good vintage condition. Light signs of age consistent with use, including a few gentle surface marks – retained deliberately as part of its history.
⸻
A classic piece of British post-war design — a link between Art Deco form and Scandinavian function — quietly functional, well-made, and most importantly - ready for another lifetime of use.
