A nicely proportioned mid-century teak coffee table, dating from the early–mid 1970s, with its original ceramic tiled top arranged in a radial sunburst pattern.

The tiles make this especially practical if you like to display a collection of houseplants — the surface will not be harmed by occasional watering (although care should still be taken not to wet the teak frame).

The frame is solid teak (not veneer), and the tiles sit within the original inset — a construction method typical of Scandinavian design of the period.

Danish-made and imported by Englender, a UK distributor known for bringing Scandinavian-style furniture into the British market in the 1960s–70s. The proportions and angled leg construction align closely with Danish lounge furniture of the era.

This piece has been lightly conserved, not stripped. The teak has been renewed carefully so its surface history remains visible, and the tiles were treated as a ceramic artwork — cleaned gently without losing their depth of colour.
