A matched pair of tall Danish teak bookcases by Uldum Møbelfabrik, both stamped to the reverse — confirmation that these left the factory together and have stayed together since. At 194cm they command a room, creating an imposing library wall of 124cm when placed side by side. Each holds its own as a standalone piece too.
The construction repays closer inspection. Teak veneer throughout — panels, back, and interior — with solid teak lipping to all shelf edges and uprights, the rounded front profile a quiet sign of quality. The back panels are fully veneered on both faces rather than simple hardboard, which accounts for the substantial weight and the rigidity you don’t find in lesser pieces. Five adjustable shelves to each unit.
The grain on the side panels is particularly fine — the kind of figured teak that reminds you why this wood defined a decade of Scandinavian design.
