A preserved example from the original Stag C-Range bedroom suite, designed by John & Sylvia Reid in 1957.
Executed in limed oak, this dressing table retains its original finish and mirror glass — unusually clean and free from the desilvering often seen in examples of this period.
The triptych mirror is framed in brushed aluminium with visible fixings — a quietly architectural detail that speaks directly to the post-war optimism of British industry. Oak and aluminium sit in deliberate contrast: warmth held within structure.
The form is disciplined. Rectilinear drawer banks flank a gently concave kneehole. Horizontal aluminium pulls repeat the material language of the mirror frame, creating cohesion across the suite.
The mirror glass is in excellent condition. Veneer remains clean and stable with no significant chips or losses.
Designed and manufactured in Solihull & Birmingham, the C-Range represents one of the most coherent British modernist furniture systems of the period — industrial clarity translated into the domestic interior.

Why it works
Oak brings warmth; aluminium brings precision. The mirror framing is not decorative but structural — an industrial line cutting through organic grain. British modernism at its most restrained.
