A mid century 'Manhattan' reclining armchair by Guy Rogers c1960's*
A solid teak frame with a high backrest shaped arms and stands on turned tapering legs, the chair can be reclined with 3 seating positions. This is a particularly comfortable chair.
The chair is in great condition; all the joints are tight and it even still retains its original faux leather / pvc fabric upholstery. There are minimal signs of wear along the top of the back rest.
Guy Rogers were an important manufacturer of contemporary upholstered furniture in the 1960s. Based in liverpool, their designs were strongly influenced by Scandinavian design, and employed a “design team” of George Fejer MSIA FRSA and Eric Pamphilon.
The Manhattan range was produced by the Guy Rogers company in the 1960's and retailed most notably through Heals of London.
This is an excellent example of an iconic piece of English design in its original covering. The Webbing has been freshly replaced with rubber Pirelli upholstery chair webbing.
