Modernism is in the detail. I love these Dansk Design candle holders, which mimic the traditional inkwell. The design would have been overseen by Jens Quistgaard in the late 1960s.
They capture how modernism wanted to enter the home, and banish decoration-for decorations-sake. Modernism looked to reveal the essence of a design.
