A beautiful pair Midcentury modern platter designed by Vaclav Zajic for Libochovice Sklo designed in 1976. Pattern: 3559/140. In heavy pressed glass.

They references abstraction, like vorticism in the UK, and the industrial processes of Modernism. Heavily textured it is a powerful piece of modernist design.

The work shares many similarities with the Scandinavian designer Gotte Augustsson, who produced work in the same vein for Ruda, in Sweden

Václav Zajíc, is an accomplished designer who first worked as a designer at the Institute of Housing and Clothing Culture (ÚBOK) and after a year became a designer at the OBAS concern – Sklo Union Teplice.

After the collapse of Czechoslovak he turned to metal work and stone cutting and still teaches and designs today.
