Uniflex were Based in east London in the 1960s to Uniflex expanding their range to include multi purpose modular storage units - designing and building to a high quality and selling in stores including Heal’s of London.
They employed designers Peter Hayward and Gunther Hoffstead to lead Uniflex towards modernist design, developing a distinctive pared back style often recognised by clean lines, sled legs and architectural influenced detailing. Hayward, an American, also designed for Gplan in the 1960s and 1970s.
His work for Uniflex was chosen by the Design Council, as representative of modernist UK design.
Uniflex products are often made in teak or rosewood occasionally with melamine surfaces.
