A substantial and architecturally striking G Plan headboard from the 1960s, part of the celebrated ‘Danish Range’, produced at a moment when British furniture was looking closely at Scandinavian modernism.
Executed in teak, the design combines a full-width headboard with integrated floating bedside cabinets, creating a strong horizontal line across the bed wall. The proportions are calm and deliberate, with softly radiused edges and clean planes that reflect the influence of Danish furniture of the period.
Although often attributed in online listings to Ib Kofod-Larsen, there is no confirmed designer attribution, and we present the piece accurately as a G Plan production from the Danish Range rather than assigning authorship where evidence is unclear. What matters here is the quality of design and manufacture: confident, restrained, and quietly luxurious.
This example has been carefully refreshed rather than stripped. Using a Scotch-Brite pad and Danish oil, the teak has been gently revived to lift the grain, soften minor surface marks, and retain the character built up over decades of use. The result is a warm, tactile finish that respects the piece’s age and history rather than erasing it.
A rare and increasingly hard-to-find bedroom piece from G Plan’s most Scandinavian-influenced period, offering both visual presence and practical storage.
