The Finnish industrial designer Annalenna Hakatie, joined Iittala soon after graduating from art in 1995.
The Ballo votive, or candle bowl, was one of her early designs for the company in the 1990s.
It is reassuringly heavy in the hand, giving the design tactility, alongside asmooth almost classical outline - the dimple ‘legs’ are a nod to postmodern design too.
