A design that earns its place in any room — and disappears into one when not needed. Three tables. One footprint. It’s a beautiful solution to space-saving: from children’s homework to card games. And with care, the perfect place for plants and flowers.

British, circa 1960s, construction details consistent with pieces retailed through Heal’s of Tottenham Court Road — who throughout the period commissioned and sourced from quality British makers, often without applied labels. No mark survives, but the specification does: sound structure, round-section tapered legs tight and true, tops conserved with Danish hard wax to bring the teak back to its original character.

The grain is the story. Sequential veneers cut from the same flitch — the figuring runs as a continuous conversation across all three surfaces. A maker who cared enough to match them.

The screw-in legs are an American invention, but they became a character of British postwar production. They had a touch of technological chutzpah — and in a pre-flatpack era, they allowed the owner to share in the enjoyment of joinery. You felt part of the making process. Even today, screwing these legs into place feels genuinely rewarding.

Condition: Conserved. Tops redressed with Danish hard wax. Structure excellent. Minor patina consistent with sixty years of honest use.

Conserved in our Buckinghamshire workshop. Questions about provenance or condition always welcome.
