The Ri-Jalka design, was created in the 1970s by Timo Sarpaneva for Juhava candle company, Finland.
Sarpaneva brought modernist interpretations of the Finnish landscape to his works; and this is embodied in these candleholders.
Their dual-use also underpins the modernist mantra of function, over surface decoration. Like so much of this designers work they look as if they have been carved straight from ice floe in his homeland.
Hand Crafted, cube-shaped glass candle holders, which work as napkin holders too.
The candle opening is designed in such a way that both a narrow candle and a ball candle can be placed in it.
