A lamp that needs little introduction, celebrated for its utility and quiet design elegance. The Model 90 Anglepoise was designed by the in-house design team and manufactured by Herbert Terry & Sons Ltd., later trading as Anglepoise Lighting Ltd., in Hampshire, United Kingdom.
Finished in the colour known as “avocado”, this example dates to the late-1960s to early-1970s period, when Herbert Terry introduced fashion-led domestic colours alongside the lamp’s original industrial finishes. Early examples such as this are identifiable by the company name stamped directly into the metal; later versions typically carry a foil or paper label.

Why it works
The avocado finish situates this Model 90 firmly within the late-1960s shift towards warmer, more domestic interiors, where utility objects were increasingly expected to live comfortably alongside furniture rather than apart from it.
